Introducing the Green Business Mastery Program
One year intensive business building program for green businesses in NYC
Seeking Partners for the Green Business Mastery Program
We are looking for organizations, associations and institutions that have a mandate to help green businesses in New York, relationships and access to potential participants, and/or can help with some of the content and materials. Lastly, partners are being sought to help fund the program, making it more affordable to the participants.
The scheduled start date is Wednesday January 20th, 2010.
The Challenge for Green Businesses
It really is not easy being “green” is one of the first things you’ll hear from your typical truly “green” business owner. Taking their product/service and trying to compete head-on with the non-green alternatives while making sure it really is healthy for the environment and society. Also, trying to educate consumers— who usually don’t understand nor appreciate the importance of the ecological benefits their product or service offers or why they should buy it instead of the non-green alternatives out there.
Lastly, green businesses need a lot of help in growing and marketing their businesses while keeping true to their environmental and social ideals, all while trying to run a profitable business in this economy. These are just some of the pitfalls.
The Solution: The Green Business Mastery Program
This is an in-depth one year program in which participants will:
- Launch an intense marketing and sales campaign— Using the power of their sustainable message, participants will leverage the program’s resources and collective access to (social) media and various potential customers and other stakeholders.
- Aggressively pursue proper financing— For those looking for outside capital, the program will help them get on the road (show), with business plan, team and marketing plan, competition and financial analysis in place.
- Develop a Sustainability Blueprint— Each participant will create a profitable and environmentally and socially-based business roadmap for selling products and services using a plan of action that demonstrating the company’s commitment to “best practices.”
- Create more green jobs— Helping these businesses grow and further contributing to New York’s economy as well as the local community will increase attractiveness to outside sources of funding and opportunities.
- Create a Collective of Carbon Negative Companies— By using science to define and monitor carbon, the participants will look to not only stop producing carbon, but actually convert it into oxygen.
Why This Program is Different
Participants— This is not a business program for beginners, but for those who already have substantial business success and a very, very serious commitment to its stakeholders and the health of the planet. They’re ready to take the next steps for their businesses to the next level.
Support—when playing a big game, it is easy to get distracted, derailed, demotivated, and psyched out. Participants have a senior coach/facilitator and a mastermind group of participants to keep them moving and helping overcome with obstacles.
Experience/Expertise—Stefan Doering (bio below), designer and program director, will be joined by various experts on finance, state-of-the-art marketing strategies, environmental science to help grow a profitable and sustainable business while going carbon negative.
Design of the Green Business Mastery Program
- Unlike many programs such as information-based workshops, we focus on hands-on development of skills that enable participants to implement the principles they learn.
- Two group sessions monthly with Stefan Doering reviewing business strategies and principles as they pertain to green businesses.
- Guest speaker series cover issues like private and government funding sources, marketing strategies, technology tools, networking opportunities, and sustainability issues.
- Four small group meetings/calls per month with 3-4 program participants and a senior coach working together and supporting each other on their green business goals.
- A minimum of one individual meeting with Stefan Doering each month to work through any specific issue or challenge they might be facing.
- A Green Business Mastery Report submitted by participants each month, logging the progress in implementing their goal.
- Weekly office hours by phone with a coach to make sure participants stay on track and get additional 1-on-1 attention as needed.
